In honor of National Stress Awareness Day, I wanted to share a little bit of stress management gold that I recently happened upon. If you’re a natural born worrier, like many of us are, now is the time to open your mind. Prior to learning about meditation I used to think wow what a waste of time…sitting while accomplishing nothing…no thanks! But then I read some books (10% Happier to name one) and did some research and found you actually accomplish a phenomenal amount through the practice of meditation.

Things meditation can potentially help with:

  • Cardiovascular health
  • Focus
  • Compassion
  • Mood
  • Outlook
  • Self-awareness
  • Stress

And the list goes on…I know personally I want all of the above! If practiced consistently, these changes occur because meditation provides the potential to actually alter your brain to build up desired characteristics and lessen unfavorable ones….whoa! Keep in mind there are many different forms of meditation…some may be more focused on enhancing compassion while others may help enhance mood. I found the Headspace app a super easy way for this meditation novice to get started. It offers short and engaging videos that explain meditation and how it can help. In addition, it has guided meditations in which you can choose the length of time you want to commit during that session.

Your super fruit side kick,

Tara
