Food Network TV Program Picks Graceland Fruit Apples

FRANKFORT, MI (October 15, 2008) — Graceland Fruit Inc.'s line of infused dried apples will be featured on the television series, How'd That Get On My Plate? scheduled to air Monday, October 20 at 8:30 ET on the Food Network.

Film crews recently followed apple production through Graceland's northwest Michigan processing plant to show consumers how this all-American favorite makes its way from the tree to the table.

“Graceland Fruit produces good tasting, nutritious apple ingredients for breakfast bars, instant oatmeal, frozen pastries, muffins, and more,” Don Nugent, company founder and president, said. “We appreciate the Food Network highlighting our innovative technology that we use to produce ingredients that consumers, manufacturers and rebaggers demand.”

This is the second time the television program has showcased Graceland Fruit products this year. The series first featured Graceland's signature line of cherries in August. The show explains how ingredients are used in things like muffins, cereal, ice cream and trail mix and focuses on technology and how it is used to process raw ingredients into the foods we eat.

“It took us 10 years to perfect the infusion process that produces a soft, moist dried cherry with natural flavor and a one year shelf-life," Nugent said. “Since then we have expanded that technology to produce a wide variety of moist and delicious shelf-stable fruits and vegetable ingredients, including apples, blueberries, cranberries, broccoli, carrots, and corn.”

Today, as the world's largest supplier of infused fruits and vegetables, Graceland produces new and innovative products with rich flavor and nutritious, healthy benefits that appeal to today's health conscious, convenience driven consumers and innovative food manufacturers.

How'd That Get On My Plate? is produced by High Noon Entertainment (Unwrapped, Food Network Challenge and Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels) and is hosted by Sunny Anderson. The Apple episode is scheduled to premiere on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 8:30 PM on the Food Network.
